How come Darcy gets a glamorous job at a PR firm and the perfect boyfriend, while Rachel grinds away at her despised job as an attorney and remains painfully single. On the eve of her thirtieth birthday, Rachel is shocked to find herself questioning the status quo. The one thing Rachel's always had over Darcy is the four-month age gap which meant she was first to being a teenager, first to drive, first to everything - but now she's about to be first to thirty. They've shared birthdays, the horrors of high school and even boyfriends, but while Darcy is the sort of woman who breezes through life getting what she wants when she wants it, Rachel has always played by the rules and watched her stunning best friend steal all the limelight. Rachel Miller and Darcy Rhone have been best friends since childhood. Love, friendship, careers and the social stigma attached to thirty-something single women make Something Borrowed a unique must-buy for fans of Sex and the City. A New York Times bestseller, and the book behind the hit rom-com film starring Kate Hudson and Ginnifer Goodwin, this is a chick-lit novel with a difference.

Matt Reeves ( War for the Planet of the Apes) rounds out the exec producing roster. Legion‘s Nathaniel Halpern has been named showrunner and executive producer, while Mark Romanek ( Never Let Me Go) will direct the pilot and also executive produce. In a continued effort to build out its genre roster, Amazon announced yesterday that it has given a straight-to-series order for Tales From the Loop, a sci-fi drama based on the art of Simon Stalenhag. If all goes according to plan, studio head Jennifer Salke is aiming for a 2021 release date. Lord of the Rings trilogy (and, unfortunately, The Hobbit) director Peter Jackson is reportedly in talks to play some sort of creative role in the show’s development, though that remains uncertain for now. So in the absence of anything concrete, here are five Middle Earth stories the show could follow. While rumors concerning the plot of this ambitious and expensive LOTR series have cropped up here and there, Amazon has yet to make any official announcements. Cut from this somewhat idyllic scene to Eloise dashing around the place doing a variety of tricks and singing a silly song that goes something like 'Fa la la la fa la la lolly tingledy here and there. The story begins quite promisingly on Christmas Eve with a blizzard raging outside and Eloise lounging in front of a blazing log fire with her Nanny, Skipperdee her turtle and Weenie her dog at The Plaza. As Hilary Knight's illustrations are excellent that would be unfair although Kay Thompson's text is at times rather wishy-washy and banal and at other times quite amusing. It could be said that 'Eloise at Christmastime' falls between two stools but that would perhaps be being a little too unkind for the literal meaning of the phrase usually implies that the object fails to fit into either of two categories. When Mary goes missing, everyone in Period 8 realize that someone is lying. Logs, their trusty teacher, tries to hold the glue together, but easier said than done. The only only rules are that you have to keep it real (no lying and be honest) and what gets discussed in Period 8, STAYS in Period 8.The truth isn't always simple though, when Paulie tells his girlfriend Hannah that he cheated on her, shit hits the fan and it seems to start a chain of events that no one could have foreseen. And it's no use, because you won't figure out what in the hell is going on until the end.Period 8 is an hour long hang out/lunch time/open discussion that students at Heller High can participate in. Chris Crutcher does a great job keeping you at the edge of your seat, guessing as to what is about to happen next. This was a fast read, and I had it knocked out in about three hours. |
